In order to support children’s cultural needs, requires the teacher to approach the learning experiences through the eyes of the child and relative to their experiences.
Culturally relevant teaching is a pedagogy that supports children’s cognitive, social, and emotional development. In an effort to meet the child’s cultural needs, it is important to approach children with the belief that they can all succeed.
We welcome all children with IEP's (Individualized Educational Plan). We have developed a culture to look beyond the prognosis. From our experience, we have discovered that children can achieve far beyond the labels they have received. The words we use to describe children matter! The words we use, create the worlds children inhabit. Professional development trainings are offered throughout the school year for all employees during teacher in-service days for additional support
