Core Values

Green Tree Community School is inspired by the Reggio & Constructivist Approach to early childhood education. We strongly believe in the image of the child as a competent and capable learner that constructs knowledge, test theories, and collaborate with peers. The environment is our “third teacher” which builds upon the emerging interests of the child. Based upon this approach, we have developed a set of values that serves as a guide or framework as we reflect in our daily work with all children in care. The following values are:

• An image of the child as competent and capable of discovering the world around them.
• A belief of children being co-constructors of knowledge.
• A deep respect for families, their perspectives and their contributions in forming the culture of the school.
• We value the importance of community and creating an atmosphere that connects the children, teacher and families together.
• We value the importance of the environment, a place where teachers, children and families feels connected and a sense of belonging.
